Hi all, I just need a little advice on this please.

Last MarchI was stopped at a Garda checkpoint and given a €60 fine for having no tax on my car.

I got the letter in the post about a week later to pay it and I GENUINELY forgot to pay it..completely slipped my mind!!:o
So a few months later i got the court summons, which was fine I accepted it totally as It was my own fault and was prepared to accept whatever consiquences.

My court date was set for the 22nd of September and due to family issues i was unable to attend.

I know, from friends/neighbours who have been to court for similar things, that you get a letter sent out afterwards stating whatever fine etc you have to pay for the offence also you are named and shamed in the local papers the week after. And from looking at the papers the going rate for having no tax seems to be a €150 fine. I was going to wait or that letter and pay the fine.

Now its been coming on 3 weeks and i have recieved no letter and I havent been named in any papers. but I have seen names of people who have had the exact same offence as me and been on the same court date as me and who also didnt show.

So I was wondering could my case have been thrown out? Postponed for another day for whatever reason? has anyone else seen this happen or had it happen to them? Should I ring the court and see?
    Any advice would be great.

    Thank you.
