Sep 03...im waiting to hear back from the dealer on the date of first registration. Good chance it was pre sep.

SE would be nice but out of my budget.

Not overly great, but doesn't look like a crappy cheap HU from Halfords, which the one in that BMW looks like.

No offence OP, but 7 grand for a 7 year old car (BMW or not) with that kinda crap spec is bonkers in my eyes.

    No offence taken

I posted for some honest feedback.

Now i need to carry on looking.

Problem is for abigger spec ill have to pay a bigger price :(

And again i keep hearing turbo failure

If Swirl Flaps, DMF and Turbo failure are a concern, look at petrol BMWs.

Looks like a decent Pioneer unit to me.

Anyway, you'll get a savagely better car for €7000 than a 2003 poverty spec 320d.

From the picture (OP's link) it looks as if the front passenger door was painted?

That unit was sold worldwide. Plenty of cars here in Australia with it, and if the standard aircon is good enough for the heat here, it'll probably good enough for Ireland.

I'm sure the OP will pick up a better spec and cheaper car if they really want it.

From reading this thread I realise there are loads of things I didnt mention in my forsale ad as I assumed they were standard (Digital A/C, Electrics, AUC Adaptive Climate control)... I should increase the price*.

    *Not really

In that case, it's unreal the sh1t BMW put in a 2003 car, my 1995 Celica had digital climate control, it was a japper but UK spec GTs also had it.

And the Paddy spec ones didn't, so that doesn't really prove anything, other than Irish cars have a lower spec than elsewhere.

Might be a good idea to check out an owners forum. They usually have a for sale section and as the people on there would have an interest in their car anyway you may pick up a well looked after one for a realistic price.

No, actually the Irish GT ones also had digital climate control, you'd be hard pressed to find one though as hardly any of them were sold new here.

The point I am making is that it is surprising to see that sort of heater controls in a 2003 BMW, looks much the same as what was in my 1993 520i

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,822 ✭✭✭✭EPM

They were available but you just had to pay for it. Presumably lower spec Celicas didnt have climate control, just like higher spec BMW's would.

In saying that BMW's spec structure works differently where you can get most engines in a variety of specs. Toyotas tend to be better specced based on the engine as you move up the range.
