    Hey,

I have perfect vision but desperatley want a pair of the geeky glasses that everyone is wearing these days for Saturday night!

    Has anyone seen them anywhere?!

    Why?

Penneys are selling fake glasses for some bizarre reason

Topshop, Topman and Urban Outfitters should have them as well.

In Singapore, the kids were wearing just frames. Literally - not even fake lenses in them. It was ridiculous obviously.

Why?! Because I have always been such a geek and now wanna rock the trend.

On nights out lately, I keep asking people for their glasses so I can get a photo with them on!! So its about time I got myself a pair!!

    Thanks,

I will take a trip over to Dundrum tonight...

Wearing non-perscription frames as a fashion accessory has become commonplace. The geeky nerdy look is popular and glasses are de rigueur for that look (apparently).
Frames can add to your look. A properly sized and shaped frame can be used to hide or to strengthen some facial features, to re-shape your look.

As a specticle wearer myself I get a little peeved at the idea of others stealing my thunder but I can understand it.

Must order a pair of pince-nez for that "uber-retro ludite chic not geek" look.

Urban Outfitters have the really thick framed black ones which are pretty cool.
I've thought about buying them for the laugh, but I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear them out of the house :pac:

BOOM... If I get mine in penneys tonight for 50c I will be happy out. I was very popular with the men on Sunday when I 'borrowed' a pair...

I wear 'genuine' thick framed glasses because I actually need them and it hasn't increased my luck with the men? And fake ones do? What?

Weirdly enough I think I can rationalise that. Firstly I'm assuming that the OP's attention was from aquaintances, men who know her without wearing glasses. Men might subconsiously notice a subtle difference in your appearance such as a haircut or a different eyeshadow but we would never ever comment on it because we are shy and retireing and afraid of appearing 'unmanly' infront of our peers.
However a pair of glasses is 'safe' ground for us to notice and comment on.
You would get the same reaction if you went for a radical (remember, men don't do subtle changes) hair colour change. We get the smack in the face change from a highly visible change and are comfortable enough to mention it.

You serious?! You need to start socialising with me so!
And to answer the 'acquaintance' post, I was in Leeds at the weekend where I knew nobody.. lads were attracted to my glasses, or wait, maybe that was my accent!?

Then Sunday night I was in Temple bar, with girls... no aquaintances!

I honestly as a female, think that lads who wear thick rimmed glasses, prescription or not are damn sexy.

    claires acessories.

i wear glasses, pretty much most of the time. i hate wearing them. it bugs me to see people getting them when they are just fashion.

This thread did inspire me to pop into specsavers tho, saw a nice pair of Tommy Hilfiger tortoiseshell frames that might work for me. So you just cost me €200!

Didn't see the fakies in Penneys tho.

Each to their own, but have to say the whole geek chic thing is a bit passe at this stage. It looks a bit try-hard to me.

Then again, I still wear clothes I've had for years, so what do I know....
