Irks in the series

It has recently dawned on me that I have a few dislikes for the Call of Duty series regarding small details. I only have World at War (havent played much) and MW2 (played to bits) and I love the games. However, I only noticed them when I started playing other fps again and I wonder why there is a difference. Do you have any?

    It's all in the hips
I noticed it as soon as I got the game, but when you turn your character, you "skate" on the spot. Would it be too difficult to add in that little feature? Gears of War have it so that your character move his/its feet while turning where as Halo have your character turn their upper torso a bit before moving their lower half. The Halo example is the best I've seen in a game so far.

I had many guns, you may take only one
Killing an opponent and looting his corpse is a little iffy. Leaving Scavenger aside, I cannot get ammo for my gun when I should. Why can I not use the M16 bullets in the M4? Hell, if I am using a blinged M4 and he has an M4 silenced I cannot loot him either. It wouldn't be game breaking to allow me to use a percentage of the ammo, would it?
Secondly, a character can carry with them 3 guns (primary, secondary + second chance/last stand's pistol), yet I can only find one of these when he dies? Magic. Dropping two weapons would not have game breaking, but it would have been nice to have the choice.

    Bomb Surgery
Search and Destroy and Sabotage suffer from dumbass bomb carriers. The worst thing is that I have to wait until they die before I can take the bomb from them. Why could they not drop it? Did they ingest it?
Seriously, bomb dropping would have made the game much more tactical in S&D. Since it was based on CS they should have mimicked it. I'm sure there was a better way of preventing "bomb taken, bomb dropped, bomb taken, bomb dropped".

    Walls mean nothing to me
Again with the visuals. When you press up against a wall, you can put your gun through the wall. It happens in a lot of games, thankfully they do not have the corner-sniping problem from GoW. However, this can still give your position away. It would have been nice if you raised your gun upward (cannot think of games that do it).

    Spawn Protection
It is a really pain in the ass that the games promote spawn trapping and the CoD community look down on Painkiller. Being killed as soon as you spwan sucks, being killed by a guy with PK sucks. More developed FPSs have an actual spawn protection system where you cannot get hurt for x amount of time after you spawn or until you first shoot (UT2k4). It seems daft that CoD does not meet halfway.

Saying that, I feel that Cod is the best game for be as I really enjoy a lot of their game mechanics, It would be nice if they added those realistic touches. Is there any feature in another game that should be in the CoD series?

    additional thoughts:
While I was writing this post I was thinking of destructible environments and awesome stuff that would deadly to have in a good shooter. I'd rather keep structures as they are (unlike BF), I would be nice if you could destroy other items, like light bulbs and glass and that they would have an impact on gameplay. Currently glass breaks and falls straight down, it would be nice that in the future, games will have enough resources to add another sense of realism. Imagine you heard the crunch of glass from the guy sneaking up behind you, or you found an enemy sniper's footprint in the grass and use it to track him. Or if you could place a corpse somewhere as a decoy. Or you could drag explosive barrels across the map to put near your c4. It would be awesome.

Not sure what you mean, like when your strafing ? Never really noticed it.

I think the main reason why they dont do this is because of how badly it would effect your FPS, although they don't look like much, the gun models in cod would be complex. Its like in cs, you can severly slow down or even crash a server by buying tons of pistols and dropping them, imagine how bad it would be on the xbox or ps3 and the hosts console :D, groundwar is bad enough.

    Yep, couldnt agree more.

Its funny, because the more i see of BO's the more cs i see copied. Gungame is an exact copy from a very popular cs mod and the whole money and wager system is practically a more advanced version of the counterstrike money system and public wager mod.

In fairness, spawn trapping was made 10 times worse in mw2 because of how easy it was to get killstreaks and how overpowerd they were, i get alot more frustrated by painkiller than from being spawn trapped. Even if they used the UT2k4 system i would still be anoying, the amount of times i do be trying to kill some1 with PK and one of his teammates would come around and shoot me is ridiculous, the PK guy just runs off as if nothing even happened too lol

yeah those would be small things that you wouldnt even really notice but would add alot to the gameplay, cept the sniper thing as the maps are really too small etc and i doubt you'd ever notice it.

The only thing i can think of offhand that i'd like changed is the removal of noobtubes and free rockets all together.. they really dont add anything to the game and removing them would have no negatives at all imo, yet it would really improve the game.. i just dont get why they insist on adding them. Having a simplistic yet balanced weapon system WORKS !

Turning on the spot. Your guy just spins around without moving his feet. Many games move their characters feet yet CoD does not.

Well maps vary in size, but I was thinking of the MW2 map Wasteland (SnD) mainly. It would be an incentive for people to be a bit more stealthy and take their time.
The whole glass thing was inspired by Die Hard :D

Idk. They have uses, mainly for removing campers. I don't like them myself, but I'm sure someone will be upset.

I think the idea about Painkiller was good in theory. Help people escape from a spawn trap. But I completely agree that once you fire your weapon, the benefit disappears immediately.

Ahhh right, yeah i guess it cant be that hard to code that :D Never really noticed myself.

The footsteps would be a good feature, i just think it would be hard to get it realistic and still be noticeable, it would only really work in SnD because of respawning, but its a good idea.

Removing noobtubes, imo, would only upset a very very small amount of people, whereas it would make the vast majority of people happy.... the logic is quite simple really... The thing with noobtubes and RPG's... once 1 person starts, others join in.

Last part sounds a lot like Metal Gear Solid. Would be amazing I agree.
