Well the first question I have to ask is what level you are, as these are aimed at a beginner. If you're a beginner, it looks like a fantastic deal, though in fairness I'm not particularly familiar with the pricing of new clubs at the moment. Still, everything you need to get yourself going for that price is very good.

    Thanks SuprSi,

I am more or less a beginner, have played a bit and I am reasonably ok.

What is the difference between these beginner clubs and more advanced clubs. Would these clubs hold you back as you improved?

    Many thanks.

    Hi Guys,

Want to pick up a set of clubs, just wondering if this set would be any good and are a good price?

    http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_packages/wilson/1200_xcg_complete_package_golf_packages/p11202

    Thanks for your help.

For example to compare the first link to this

    http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_packages/ram/fx_black_golf_package_golf_packages/p7946

What would the differences be if any?ç

    Thanks.

To be honest the only difference I can see is that the RAM set has an additional rescue club and some headcovers. I'm sure the components in boths sets, and the build quality, would be similar enough not to warrant paying the extra few quid. If you're ordering them online you have to take a leap of faith, to some degree, as you won't be able to see what the clubs feel like beforehand, but I can't see any reason to go for the RAM set over the Wilson.

Ok that's exactly what I wanted to know!!

    Thanks for the reply.

Have to say, very impressive for that price. Good looking set and well specified. Well worth it.

    Thanks SuprSi.

Last question. In a toss up between the Wilson 1200XCG for E228.05 or the RAM FX100 for E249.00 which would you go for?

    Thanks again.

I'd probably go for the RAM set, for the simple reason that, despite them being similar clubs, there's an extra one in the bag, and it's a rescue so you will definitely use it.

As I said already, terrific value for a full set. Hope you enjoy them!

    SuprSi thanks again.

One last thing was passing through limerick today and said i'd call into sportsworld on the childers road. They had a graphite dunlop set with driver, 3 wood, 1 recovery club, irons 4-sw,putter and bag for E225. That better again?

Only differences so are graphite vs steel and the dunlop has the 4 iron instead of 4 rescue club. Also Dunlop vs RAM (is that an issue?)

Also for anyone near a JJB sports they have a big golf department and are currently 20% off everything!

Dont bother with a beginner set as you will only be wasting your money in a year or so when you want to upgrade. 200 now for a beginner set plus about 300 in a year or 2 to upgrade =500. Spend a little more now, maybe on a 2nd hand set of decent irons add a driver, maybe a hybrid and you will not play better, but you will not waste as much money over time.

Thanks for all the advice. I really just want to know whether there would be much difference in feel and playability between a RAM/Dunlop/Wilson starter set?

    Thanks again.
