Im having terrible trouble with a book I ordered almost two months ago that hasn't arrived. A replacement was sent according to them a month ago and no sign of that either.

I tried combinations of the number in their emails and ones I found here and on-line. I emailed privacy@play.com asking them to forward the mail on, no word back since Friday. So if anyone has an email or number to contact them?

    Thanks in advance.

It seems that they've become completely uncontactable lately. The phone numbers don't work, and they never answer emails.

Contact your bank about a charge back on the payment is about all you can do.

Grand stuff thanks, so I just ring the bank and ask for this and say its because I never received an item I ordered two months ago.

Yes, but make sure to ring the credit card helpline.

Will do thanks, its a shame to see play gone this way as they where the best for getting stuff and had the free postage as a bonus.

They cover their arse on the free postage by charging a rip off exchange rate from GBP to Euro.

The last time I contacted them I used the following details, it might be worth a try:

    customercare@play.com
    0044 28 90921724

Sure they all do that, just play enforce it by not letting us order in £s.

Ive just got off the phone to BOI thanks, so letter into them and fingers crossed they will sort it. I don't fancy having to pay to ring the UK at this stage. Lesson learned and the book depository will by my first call for books.

Just a note slightly off topic but related. I started selling on play.com in May 2010. I sold to the tune of £1346 and went through the proceedure of withdrawing the funds from sellers account on the 28th of June. I recieved an email verification of this action of withdrawl on the same day. The next day play.com suspended my account for very spurious reasons mainly an unwarrented claim that my products were not up to quality standards even though I had sold over 180 items and only had one overly fussy customer regarding tardiness.
I was understandably upset over this and contacted play.com's customer service. I was informed that not only had they suspended my account but they also have froze the funds in my account. I asked them when I should expect to recieve my funds and their answer was... wait for it. WE DONT KNOW !
I purchased the stock I sent to customers and paid for the postage and was making an incredibly low margin on the sales and they decide to keep the funds indefinetly. Between July 3rd and today I have been around and around in circles with their customer service department regarding when I will get paid. 10 days ago they informed me that the funds would be in my account in 7 working days but this was obviously to fobb me off the phone.
Just letting all sellers know that as a seller on their website I have been conned out of €1500+ and their customer service dept are agents that have nothing to do with Play.com. You may as well ask a dog on the street for help with your play.com account. Only option I have now is to go to the small claims court and issue a claim. Also blitz the internet forums to save anyone else from the misfortune of dealing with these crooks.

Yes indeed they certainly are ripping us off with the exchange rate

I mailed a while ago about it and got a load of blah blah mumbo jumbo

sh!t out of them, and their postage has gone dog slow.

Ive given up on play and have sent a letter into Bank Of Ireland to claim my money back. Thankfully it is a small amount @ €14!

Sounds like the hassle people have/had with komplett, with a global downturn you think there would be less orders and in turn less messing people around.

I have been having problems getting a refund for 2 undelivered games that I ordered from play.com 2 months ago.
I posted 4 seperate letters as per there missing items policy, the last letter was sent by registered post which I have confirmed they received.
I stll have not received any response from them.
I've tried there phone numbers and email address's but nothing has worked so far.
Any ideas on how I can get my money back?

Charge back, contact your bank and request one.

Its basically like opening a dispute with paypal, if the seller(play) doesnt get back in touch with the bank then the bank charges plays bank with the refund cost.

I emailed Play about a minor issue last week.

As of today I still haven't had a reply, nor do I expect one.

Having spent a significant amount of money with Play down the years it is nearing the stage where I'll eventually just give up on these guys and spend the few bob extra in the local stores where you can at the very least expect someone to acknowledge your presence when you have a service issue.

@ CapBean your very welcome and good luck getting it sorted.

@ jpb1974 there are still numerous sites that haven't gone to the dogs ala play.

    www.sendit.com

    www.bookdepository.co.uk

And then there's the usual amazon and ebay, dont touch cdwow(assuming they haven't closed as I write) as they charge €1.50 insurance.

Do you not just tick the insurance box to remove the charge

Don't touch CDWow because they've gone absolutely brutal would be a better reason.

If ordering over £25 on Amazon.co.uk you'll get the free Supersaver delivery, just make sure to select it at checkout. You can also keep the payment in £, which will probably work out a little cheaper than accepting their exchange rate (though Amazon's rate is actually quite good). Amazon also ship from within the EU, where as Game, Sendit, HMV, etc, mostly ship from Jersey where you run the risk of additional import taxes.

I put an Epson V700 scanner into my basket today but wasn't given any delivery options during the checkout process.

When the total amount payable appeared there was a link that when clicked told me that I didn't apply for Supersaver delivery because I wasn't in the UK.

I'm assuming this is due to the type of product as I've had stuffed shipped for free before?

    Cheers

Was it sold by Amazon, or a re-seller on Amazon Marketplace? Marketplace purchases are normally exempt from this, because you're buying from another business.

Any time I've bought over £25, from Amazon itself, I've qualified for free shipping, no matter what products are being bought. I've not bought bulky electronic items though, so that could be it too.

    T'was from Amazon.co.uk direct.

Aye, I suspect it might be the fact that it's a pretty bulky electronic item.

    Cheers
