Radio problem in VW Passat 2002

    I have a weird problem with my radio in my VW 2002. It has an original radio. Firstlly the CD System works fine. Stick in my cd and i can listen away uninterrupted. However, all of a sudden about 1 month ago, the radio (on fm only, doesnt happen on am) just dies after 2 mins driving, sometimes 15mins sometimes doesnt work at all, it crackles before it goes.
    Garage checked connection but said was fine. Is there an fm connection or aerial somewhere that needs to be checked cause as i said every thing else in the radio works fine. Appreciate any info

    I know that the antenna is an amplifed/powered one, so may be worth checking fuses etc. Local auto electrician?
