Vending machines in the Science Hub (1.60euro for 500ml) or Spar Roebuck Road (walk to Roebuck Halls, go to the carpark on the opposite side of the new residences, go through an arch in the trees and there is an exit onto Roebuck Road, or alternatively go out the Owenstown Exit and turn right).

Word on the street is that the Student Centre is having a dispute with Britvic on this, because its not entirely clear whether the ban can be enforced on them. So there's coke to be had there, aswell as the vending machine in the Sports Centre. (For the record, that could be a load of cr*p).

    With the hookers

The vending machines in the bottom of the science hub are all fully stocked so that's probably your best bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

Vending machines under UCD resturaunt have a full stock of coke, lucozade, sprite and powerade.

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 7,396 Mod ✭✭✭✭**Timbuk2**

2L Bottles of Coke still at €1.69 in Spar Roebuck Road.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,296 ✭✭✭RandolphEsq

Apparently, since this thread was started the price of coke in the vending machines has hit €4,000,000 for 500ml

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,619 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

Coke has been removed from Roebuck School's vending machines...

The Trap, Science hub (I still believe), Restaurant Vending Machines.

I think UCD are making a powerful statement against corporate greed with the campus ban

J/K I'm the managing director of coca-cola I'm so rich and successful I've never even heard of UCD LOL

Yeah, they sure are making a huge statement against corporate greed by engaging in a contract with a large corporation to sell their products over their competitors.

    Mook.

    What's mook?

Did you read the second line?

Yes. Did you read the thread? This isn't a ban, it's an exclusivity agreement with their competitor. It's nothing to do with making a statement, it's to do with Britvic, the people who supply Pepsi, club etc. are giving UCD a large sum of money to not sell coke.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,802 ✭✭✭bluefinger

how do you put that filth in your body?

I didn't know that and it certainly hasn't been made clear on this thread. To be honest most responses have been jokey

    It's friday. Chill man

PS is mook an insult or were you signing your post? I'm not gonna report you I just haven't heard it before.

Have to say the fridges look mighty stocked in the SU shops. I walked in the other day and left. I frankly didn't see anything I liked. Britvic merchandise is pure rubbish.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,880 ✭✭✭Raphael

It's a mild insult, on a par with twit. And my apologies, I've had a long day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,619 ✭✭✭✭errlloyd

In fairness this is the second coke thread, the first had the explanation.

    Its a dark day...

in my humble opinion the we the students will suffer as prices of soft drinks will rise with the lack of competition. who is really going to benifit?? not us. back-hander springs to mind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 597 ✭✭✭Tayto2000

No backhanders involved, it's an front up payment for exclusivity. Whether it's a good thing for the campus is a different matter though and I don't like the precedent set...

    /Unzombiefies thread

Did anyone see the Observer article (Front Page) about Coca Cola? It was a bit of a non-story, but it basically said that in spite of the Britvic deal, there are some vending machines around campus that still stock Coca Cola. It doesn't say where!

Is this true? I know it was true up to a point, i.e. you could find it in the Restaurant and in the Science Building vending machines (not anymore, as far as I know).

    On a separate note
2 x 2L Coke for €3 in both Spar Foster's Avenue / Roebuck Road and Tesco.
Also, Tesco Dundrum were doing 2 x 500ml bottles for €2 yesterday (Monday) - it was advertised as a deal but I always thought they were €1 anyway.

Well, either it is or they're liars. Think Elements might still be selling coke products, though I may be wrong.

If places are selling coke still, it's shocking behaviour by the college. Hope they don't get stung for breach of contract by Britvic.

elements still sell lucosade and powerade afaik... no proper coke though

The Observer have lost all respect from me for that article.

There shouldn't be any respect for them to begin with.

Beleive the part of the article where it says "health sciences" and "sports centre" roughly describes where the Coke is being sold.

Probably should have read it in more detail. It's in the bin now :o

Still have it in the Sports Centre afaik, I was kind of tired walking out but I'm pretty sure I saw it.

Interestingly, it seems after the article had been published all coke products from the vending machine in Health Sciences have been removed over night. Yesterday you could still get coke, diet coke and fanta cans. Today it's just stocked with sweets and some red bull cans.

The deal is not "anti-coke" in the same way the ban was, the deal is for Brtvic exclusivity, so there shouldn't be red bull either...

Mind you, anyone taken a look behind the bar in the student bar recently. Stocked up with loads of coke.

its probably easier to get the non-liquidy coke in ucd then the good stuff
