Honda crv engine dilemma?!?

I have just got a Honda CRV 2.00litre that the timing belt has gone and engine is ducked as they say! my query is... The body is light so can I put a 1.4 Civic engine into it for more economical reasons (petrol / motor tax etc.) Can this be done or is it a mad idea?!? (Thank you, by the way)
