    Hi Folks

Toying with the idea of upgrading my S and B Klassik 6 x 42, to either fixed power 8 x 56 or variable 3 - 12 x 50. Any thoughts from all fellow deer shooters would be appreciated.
Most of my hunting is in timber and a bit of hill, and looking more for smoething a bit better in low light rather than long distance.
    Cheers

    Is there a 3-12x56 S&B?
I have a 5.5-22x56 NF and 56mm @ 5.5x is very impressive in almost darkness

No, but there's a 3-12x50. You'll get way more light with the fixed power, so it depends whether you value the light gathering abilities over the extra capability of the variable scope. Personally I think it's hard to go wrong with the 3-12x50.

best light I have ever experienced was a Nikon 2.5-10x56, other than a top of the range Zeiss, it is beyond compare in low light

You'll get better light transmission from your 6x42, I have 2 and can shoot under moonlight. Although for my new rifle I want a 3-12x50 to give me a bit extra power for longer shots...

all schmidt+bender scopes are excellent 6x42/8x56/3-12x50 etc sometimes the 2.5-10x56 s+b is over looked and is a fantastic scope ,even better if ya could get your hands on an illuminated one !

Illum is fantastic, as it allows you to use a finer reticle in the low light and yet be visible ;)

If you have the coin..... go the s&b 3-12 x 50.. even better get the one with the illuminated flash dot.... It helps in the early morn when the sun pokes its head up and its game on. I had one a while ago and sold it to help fund a new build......:(

at the end of the day you get what you pay for in scopes.... Trust me I`ve been through plenty in my short voyage in the deer stalking craic....

A variable illuminated reticle scope would be my choice if I was going shopping !

Look at the new Kahles KXi 3.5x10x50. 1 inch tube and a sister company of Swarovski.
