Can anyone give a rough cost to replace 3 brake lines / housings on an e46 3 Series and recommend a reliable independent mechanic in Dublin to carry out the work.

Give AC cars a call, they've done everything I've needed on my 3 series and I would highly recommend them. www.accarsales.ie

Let us know what quotes you get OP? I'll need to get exactly the same done next year and would be good  to know if I'm likely to be able to afford it once the 2 Brian's have had their wicked way with our finances in December...

Do you mean the flexible rubber hoses? Or the metal brake lines?

The hoses are about €20 or so each, 1 to 1.5 hours to replace 3 of them...

Thanks for the posts so far.

Three of the metal brake lines are corroded and need to be replaced.

Car was not an import so wouldnt have thought this would be an issue with a 7 year old Irish car :(

Ahh ok, I would guess they probably don't need to be replaced on a 7 year old car! There is probably a tiny bit of surface corrosion on them and the NCT guy failed them cause of this. I would sand them down and paint them up. I think there is a special paint for this.
