Eagle on a par 4. Is there something in golf insurance that allows a golfer to claim for something when this happens in a similiar fashion to a hole in one?

Was chatting to someone yesterday who said this is the case, but i wouldn't think its correct. Ok an eagle on a par 4 is a good achievment but hardly in the league of a hole in one

I had an eagle last year on a par 4 and that was mentioned to me also, never looked into it but I think there might be some truth to it. Ask your club sec and see what they come back with

They were too difficult for me so they drew me up a new card making them par 4's instead of 3's:D

Check with your club general manager or competition secretary. I'm a member in Bray and if anybody has a 2 at a par 4 the club claim from the golfers insurance, you get €250 from the insurance company. The problem in Bray is that the 250 must be used up on the same day, something to do with balancing the tills at the end of the day and you cannot use it in the restaurant, so you need to get on the phone and invite all your mates to the club!!. Many members in Bray feel this is very unfair and that any balance leftover should be credited to your smartcard, a point sure to be brought up at the next AGM.

staying kinda on the subject ,what is the easiest and most eaglable par 4 you've ever played, for me the 6th in Charlsland, had 2 eagles at it so it must be easy

14th in Bray has yielded a good few 2's, get the wind in the right direction and the right bounce and you will catch the downslope and get close to the green

Silly hole an course IMO. Apart from the 18th. Great par 5. Playing Glen of the downs Sunday. Have I any eagle chances there?

I would love to see the fine print on that policy - I would be very surprised if the insurers knew they were paying out for eagles instead of holes in one.

Eagles on par 4s are special but you can have free putts or short chips to get them - they are nowhere near the league of the elusive hole in one.

    For all you nay-sayers......

I find it hilarious how many people I've played with this year who don't know about this! There's been pretty much a minimum of 1 per comp in my club this year. I've had 2 myself. In one fourball I played in two of my playing partners had one each. 500 euro goes a long way towards a good night!! :D

By the way the reason club secretarys want it all spent in the one day is so that they don't have to be fiddling with receipts that they've to send away to claim the money. Its a fair point. Plus we should be glad about the free bar credit anyway!!

played Charlsland in their recent jsc and i have to say off the back sticks it was a good test, like you i'm not a fan but twas in great nick and i really enjoyed it,for once!
re:Glen of the downs, personally i think it's dreadfull, have shot some really good scores around there and still felt like i didn't play great
in terms of eagles the last time i played it i eagled the last(par 4),it was down wind and i hit a 5 wood to it,was poxed with a bounce off the side of the bunker and rolled up to 6 feet,if you go over the green it's in the drink hence no driver if wind behind
enjoy and report back what you thought of it.ta
