A friend forwarded me a link to an online argument here about a place called Ballyquent

It's pretty funny, some people like getting upset and some people like winding people up
It's about the literal meaning of a placename from Irish rather than the anglicised version

Reminds me of the Devils Mother close to Ashley falls in Connemara translated from Magairlí an Deamhain which literally means the Devils Testicles though that got lost in translation :D

That which we call a c*nt by any other word would smell as sweet (?).

I remember when my American relations came over, and they were falling about laughing when we passed through Stillorgan in Dublin. It had never entered my head before that that it was an unusual name! A bit like Kilcock. And of course, Muff.

It's hard to tell, they land some dirty digs, hope they don't meet outside the school gates! :pac:

    Enrique Raspy Buddy

There is much to be learned from looking into the meaning behind this name.

I'm calling shenanigans. The only mention of 'Ballyquent' anywhere on the net is on that blog, the author's twitter and boards.
