Hello all. I think I am posting in the right section for this, if not, sorry
but i was hoping someone could help.

I'm not a farmer or anything like that i just need advice really.

I have a site that I went over with a very strong spray (1 pint the chemical an the rest about 10ltrs i think) a few months ago then had a friend who had a plow to go over the site when the weeds died. This was all well and good but my plans have changed and weeds are growing back now again and i was hoping someone on here could recommend to me a strong spray/chemical/pesticide to use for the next few months to keep the weeds at bay.
I have my dads pump sprayer that goes on my back and mask etc, but i just cant rememeber what spray/chemical/pesticide i used to get rid of the weeds at the time. It was in a red container if that helps.
Could someone recommend to me a good spray/chemical/pesticide mix i can get in dublin to use on my site please?

Thanks for any help!, and again if this is in the wrong section i apologize!

What are the weeds? Someone may be able to photo ID them, here or on the Nature & Birdwatching forum (not sure I'd ask for chemical advice there mind you), if you upload a photo.

Sometimes, using too strong a spray is counter productive. It kills the plant above ground very quick, but won't get as far as the roots, so the weed grows back again. It's important to follow the directions on the tin.

One other thing. Make sure your mask is a proper one that has a vapour filter. Those cloth type white dust masks, any dust mask, isn't a bit of use in protecting you.

    Thanks for the reply!

Yeah the mask i have is a big over the face mask. Very strong and tight.

The weeds are mainly nettles, but they grow up to 6 to 8 ft tall! if left for too long, and i just want to keep on top of them untill the new year around march/april, spay the site once a month until then if they keep coming back fast which i think they would slow down growing coming into the winter now.

As i said, my dad was a farmer but, cant ask him about sprays and such anymore :-(

Would i be wise to go into my local hardware shop and ask the guy in there?

Nettlex is what I'd use for them, think Hygeia in Oranmore in Galway make it. Sprayed some with it this year and it kicked the snot out of them.

Maybe grazon 90. It kills everything bar grass so nettles thistles ragworth etc will be kept off till spring once the grass gets a good cover over the ground

would i be right to presume that you are seeding the ground in the spring if you are you might be as well to use ''Round up'' once to kill every thing off

Its a pretty big site to use round up. Not putting grass seed down untill next spring is right.

This sound like the idea i have, i'll look into this Grazon90 so.

Thanks very much for all the help!!!
