BSI resetting on a peugot ??

    hi
sent my peugot partner in for a diognostics test yesterday with a main dealer as none of my dials were working on the dash (50euro) .They came back and said needs a new bsi , cost of new part and labour a mind melting price of 580euro:eek:
came home an looked up part and found a company in the uk that can fix the bsi for a fraction of the price about 220euro .
The site says before sending in bsi off to them try to reset the unit

Before sending the unit try the BSI Reset procedure as this may cure your faults:

Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.

Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.

Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.

Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).

Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.

Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.

Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.

Remove key open & close door test central locking system.

Start the engine and complete the system's check.

Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.

has anyone tried this and had any joy

Its worth a try before you go pulling out the bsi.....this procedure is known as a bsi soft boot.
The company that you were talking to in relation to repairing the bsi I'm guessing your talking about bba remain...??

It the soft boot does'nt work and you do send it away for repair then
it would be better to copy/print the bsi configuration before you send it off to them as it may comeback cleared...but should work.

The other option would be to change out the bsi, engine ecu and key chip from another partner with the same spec.

If your near the west i can read the bsi configuration for you before you send it off to them...:)
    Ron.

What peugeot, most pugs dont have bsi, even though their citroen counterparts may have them. for instance the citroen xsara

I know this thread is old but I tried the 'soft boot' process the other day. have a citroen c3 sesodrive automatic. the soft boot didnt work despite four attempts. New bsi unit for me, at a cost of 375e:eek:
