if youve a spanner and an hour, itd be cheaper by far to do the service yourself. if its fairly simple stuff, plugs, filters, oil... then even if you had to buy the tools to do it, itd be cheaper than a garage. faster too

    dont fear the spanner!

    perfect question.

Why is everyone afraid of naming their car's needs and look for a proper price for needs. If you don't know anything about car servicing, there is always a friend around who can list things to do easily.

This way you wouldn't be ripped off by full service quotes contains oil and three filter change with 180 check item in a funny receipt.

if you want to leave your car to mechanic and ignore what is going on there at the beginning, then you shouldn't complain about cost and rip off Ireland.

Smart shopping needs time for research and learning once for every different shopping category

If you don't have time for that so you need easy shopping which only needs plenty of money.

Based in Shankill, would like to be able to drop the car somewhere and still make it to work via bus or dart to town and collect car when ready.

    Found on wikipedia
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_servicing

So does that mean, when I go to garage which advertises that they do service for 99euros all of these is done?
Maintenance tasks commonly carried out during a motor vehicle service include:

I actually never had a car newer then 4 years, and never had a car with manufacturers guarantee.
And I always thought, that would be the only reason to go to main dealer every year or every 15k kms, to do servicing.

On any cars of mine, I always do things, when they need doing.
F.E I change oil and oil filter every 15k kms. I change air filter when it's dirty. I change spark plugs when they are worn. I check the tyre pressure and fluid levels at least every week. I change timing belt as advices in manual (or usually sooner).
But never though, to go to garage, to actually do all the work at one time.
Never actually also thought what that servicing includes.
