Hi everyone, Anyone here do this event in the last 2 years. i am seriously considering entering it. just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience. . . 60% drop out rate in 2009 and i think it was something similar this year. the organisers have done both the lakeland route and the UTMB and reckon this is tougher. maybe they are slightly biased but it does look tough alright.
    Thanks

jeff, i believe the great joss naylor, fell running legend himself fired the starting gun in the Lakes this year. .. the cool kids be at the Lakeland 100:p
and they are giving you 8 more lovely miles of suffering than at the WHW..(Lakeland is actually 103 miles)surely that is enticing enough to convince you:D

100 miles is a bit rough. I know a guy doing the Lakeland 50. 80k seems more in the realms of reality for me.

Hopefully I'll be doing a few long training runs along the Wicklow Way in the next couple of months if you're interested Pablo. Jeff did a nice 60k or so from Kilmashogue to Glenmalure recently. Seems to have come through it fairly okay!

There was talk of a Wild Ireland Run taking place next year which would be around the 80k mark. Trouble with long races is that they kind of take over your season. The short races can fit into training schedules.

Hi gohard ya I was with jeff that day. Twas perfect conditions up there. I will definitely be making a few trips up over the coming months starting with the end of November when we try add the other half of the way to that 1st 60. Your welcome to join us for some of that if you like. The wild Ireland run would be perfect in the build up but I think they might be on too close together. Mourne ultra would fit in nicely though if it's on the same date next year.

You were chatting in the car park that day lads, until GoHard was distracted by a lady and pablo had to dunk himself in the river. Different priorities there!

GoHard may be joining us in November pablo, if he mans up and does a few long training runs. ;)

For those interested in tracking the race, which starts at 5:30pm today click here.

There is also a 50 miler with some boards interest also which can be tracked at the same link, it starts at noon tomorrow.

Since Pablo is running the 100, there is boards interest in both races.

I meant that there was interest in the 100, and also in the 50, if you get what I mean? It's Friday, I'm not using my words well!

Best keep quiet over here before someone questions why people are doing these events and what merit they have. :D

Ok, ok, we're meaning the same thing.
Running 1:41.01 for 800m or running a 5k in 12:37 will be athletically and physiologically far more impressive anyway.

Pablo is beating Barry Murray as well. Two Irishmen in the top 5...

Pablo came third, but someone should tell him this is a race and stop holding hands while crossing the line! ;)
