Anyone seen this show? It's on RTE now thanks to our licence fee, in the morning. Would be interested to hear view from people working in healthcare.

Apart from the fact that its hard to cover any topic in any serious way in the short space they give to discussion - most of the show seems to consist of scaremongering.

A few days ago they were talking about mushrooms as a food, and one of them said do not pick or eat wild mushrooms, they are all poisonous.

Another time they were talking about organic food. And the "expert" said non-organic raised turkeys were "laced with arsenic".

Yeah I've seen this show. Its kinda funny. I almost expect the crowd to go "Hey Dr Nick" and a cartoon character walk on stage

Apparently they are all qualified medical doctors. Although Dr. Travis Stork made his name on a reality TV show "The Bachelor". And the executive producer of the show is the son of "Dr. Phil".

I saw him on the bachelor! hard to take him seriously after that. I just find the amount of time the give over to cosmetic procedures a bit odd

HAVE YOU NOTICED HOW MUCH PRODUCT PLACEMENT OCCURS?
I loved the one about Urinary Tract Infections.
They were trying to encourage women to buy loads of products to use at home- to ascertain if you had a UTI or cystitis BEFORE going to the doctor. Let me tell you - ONE KNOWS WHEN ONE HAS EITHER- it is obvious and even worse than that- the doctor HAS TO do those tests regardless.
They were soooo appeasing their sponsors with such useless home tests that the patients doc would have to do anyway!!;)

Jeeesh no need to shout loulou. In case you didn't notice we're not exactly fans of the show here

It was on when I was in the gym the other day. They were cooing over some woman's collagen injected lips, which to me looked like two worms had been glued to her face. They all seem far more interested in their abs and blow-dried hair than medical science.

It's dire television.. I actually only saw it for the first time the other day. The fact that they dress in full medical attire while at the same time giving tips on how to have 'celebrity smooth skin' is in fact a little frightening, to me at least. It's the ultimate in appealing from authority

Lab coats, scrubs and stethoscopes in a T.V. studio. Bell ends, the lot of 'em.

Bet the nurses where the "hunky" creep in the scrubs work make puking mimes behind his back.

Utter shyte . That show is super-sanitised pulp packaged to facilitate easy consumption by the ill-educated masses.

Ever notice they never discuss ' nasty ' stuff like piles, STD's , worms , etc - pure daytime TV. I'd expect nothing better from RTE , they are the twats that bring us delights like The Rose of Tralee and Eurovision

No, they've got "Embarrassing Illnesses" for that. Thats right, I'm so embarrassed by my mangey minge/warty willie that I wont go to my perfectly professional G.P. No, so mortified am I, I go to the Dr. with the TV crew in his consulting room.

They've a book out, "The Doctors 5-Minute Health Fixes: The Prescription for a Lifetime of Great Health".

From Amazon, "If you are like many, you probably think you just don’t have time to be healthy". I can't really agree with agree with that statement!:)

Hahaha, I think I'll launch a stand up career based solely on quotes from that book. If that gem is anything to go by.. :)

On again in the gym this morning. One topic, "Do Tampons Contain Asbestos?"

One topic, "Do Tampons Contain Asbestos?"

Not wishing to drag the thread off topic but what was the answer to that one ?
I would have thought not but you never know.....

Hehe, surprise surprise the answer was no :D

It was answered by Dr. Bachelor and the editor of Preventions magazine. Readership the fatally paranoid, I fear.
