The sick little kid I was I loved this series:

Namco making a come back with this and Enslaved from author Alex Garland (a personal fav).
Will they flop or will Splatterhouse be awesome!?
    discuss.

I will always feel a fondness towards the original Splatterhouse, but I'm not sure what to expect from the new release. So long as it is not the same repetitive horror it should be a fun way to kill a few hours. :) As for sales Namco seem to be marketing it pretty well, I have a Splatterhouse t shirt, so an all out flop shouldn't be expected.

Yep I have that fondness of the series aswell, its the one game that I probably would actually were a tee of.
You just joined boards? you don't happen to work for namco do you?! I'll plug the hell outta the game for free stuff :D

I loved the original splatter house, however my only complaint with this one is that Rick looks a little too nimble, I almost preffered his "brutish go in slow and hard and kill ****" routine.

    But time will tell.

No, no Namco namebadges on my shirts :D Won it in a raffle for the compsoc in college. I joined boards a while back as in 3 years ago, forgot my username and password so set up another one today.

So many hours i put into this game as a wee one. The updated vesion looks like Bane from Batman got his own videogame.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for a decent game if I were ye, The original devs were fired from the project and every preview I've read of it has been resoundingly negative.

Personally, I've been looking forward to this one for months. Used to love Splatterhouse II on the Megadrive as a kid, so I'm very interested in how they're gonna pull this one off. Don't worry to much about an in-depth story or anything, just give me a fun game with buckets of gore, and I'll be a very happy dude.

Originally thought this was going to drop in this, but apparently it's not hitting the selves till next month.

Apologies for bumping an old thread, but I thought better that than starting a new one about the same game.

Anyways, has anyone played this yet, and what are the verdicts on it?
Personally, I'm really enjoying it. Picked it up on friday, but only got around to starting it on monday. Great crai so far. Nothing special, mind you, but good harmless blood covered fun.

Been following it and if anything it reminded me of The Suffering, which I always thought was very underated. Probably won't pick it up until the New Year given my backlog but it really does look solid.

Picked it up as soon as it came out myself (I actually had to prebook it, because Gamestop told me they were only stocking one copy... I don't know why though), as I've been waiting to play it since it was first announced.

I wouldn't put it in the same catagory as The Suffering. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of The Suffering, and I completely agree that it's severely under-reated. Personally I would have loved to see a third Suffering game.
The only real common ground that the two have is the ability to hulk out into a big spikey beast. This is more just hack and slash action. Braindead fun, if you will. But still, very entertaining, and with some pretty though sections in the later levels.

Also, the classic games as unlockables is a huge bonus for fans, like myself, who played through the oldies as a kid.
