it seems a man has gotten off scott-free with nicking a bottle of wine, because he was already serving a sentence for another theft

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11476274

and the judge wanted Tesco to deal with it themselves, rather than bring it to court. it seems a bit rediculous that someone can rob from a supermarket and get away with it

Are you serious? It was a stupid bottle of wine.

Tesco with their many millions should deal with this themselves.

Get him to pay double for it or something and ban him - problem solved

I heard this malarky on the radio earlier today. As one listener pointed out, would the manager and co. be interested in getting involved with potential scum families? I think not. And if you were the manager of Tesco, I reckon you'd feel the same

What planet is the judge living on? It's her JOB to try him, not to tell tesco to deal with it themselves!

If Tesco actually spent a few euro on decent security, maybe that would deter the scumbags. As for wasting taxpayer money on all that only to be told "you are already serving a sentence etc", Garda resources could have went on something worthwhile.
