50's style mens clothing advice needed

Hoping someone here can help. I have to go to a 1950's style party in a few weeks and need a bit of advice on what to wear. I know a smart 50's style suit and hairstyle a la Mad Men would do, but the problem is that I have quite long hair and am definetly not getting it cut shorter.

Anyone got any ideas on what to do? Also, if anyone can let me know where the best place(s) in Dublin are to pick up clothing?

    Thanks!

    How long is long?

    Shoulder length or waist length?

Three piece suit and slick back your hair. Or get a hat.

What's your budget for the clothes?

Just a little past my shoulders

Don't think the slick back look would work to be honest. I'd prefer to spend as little as possible (because it's a once off) but if the right suit was on offer, who knows!

Slicked back with a fedora hat maybe? Or a quiff?

If you want to go REALLY cheap just get some blue jeans from Tesco from a fiver, pair with a white tshirt and stick your hair in a quiff and boom, you're an extra from Grease ;)

Check out The Fedora Lounge for ideas maybe, lots of people with styles from that era.
