Anybody know about car radio problems?

A few days ago the radio stopped working in my car. Its a Sony, about 6 years old i think, and not the original stereo for the car. The cd player works fine. When you turn on the radio there is no sound at all and the station names dont appear on the screen when you press the preset buttons. I checked the antennae at the back of the unit and its plugged in. A few days ago it was in a garage and they were looking under the dash for the alarm so maybe something was disturbed then?

Does it sound like a simple thing or is it fooked?

Sounds like they disconnected the radio entirely from the battery for a while, and it forgot it's presets. To get radio station names back on, you need to enable RDS on the front of it. To store your stations, tune one in manually, then press and hold the preset where you want it to be stored.

    Thanks paint(and radio)doctor.

The disconnected battery was the cause of the problem it seems and wiped out the presets. I found a hidden reset button and that done the trick. Just need to put stations into memory again.

Found a very useful site for anybody else like me who has lost their manual for their car radio or a lot of other stuff too! Heres a link
