Hi I am just wondering what is the law regarding a landlord refusing to give his surname in order for one to apply for a college accommodation grant? He is obviously not paying his taxes but is there any law stating he has to provide the details or is it tough luck? I have the receipt (ripped out of a notepad) that has his first name and surname (scribbled), address of the house, the monthly rent and the lease terms and his phone number can I use them even though he has refused?

Do you mean you can't read his surname ?

Does the lease not have it on it ?

You're asking can you not use 'them' (his details ?) even if he has refused ? I would say fire away.

    No prob.

I thought you said you had lease terms.

You are not giving yourself any legal problems by providing his details as provided to you in respect of any application regarding your rights as a tenant.

do most certainly use his proper full name and address, you are more in need of help with your expenses, than he is, did he take a cheque as payment for deposit or did he turn down a cheque, try him next time you have t o pay him using your parents cheque book, so that you will have receipt of payment in doing so, at least you will be starting up a paper trail which would be good,
and then do as i did when my offsprings were at college away from home, in the first week there i would always send them a letter to the address they were renting at, as this served as showing that you were there on that date ,
