hi all, new to the fourm, really hope you can give me some advice! I want to start running properly, (some backround to help get an idea of where i am at) i go for a run now and again but not so much on a consistant basis. I did a 10k fun run a few weeks ago, and was suprised how far i could actually run, i went for a run last week and managed 5k (just about),

but here's where i need advice should i start the 5k to couch, so i can do a 5k without feeling completely wrecked or skip to the couch to 10k..... or stop thinking about it so much and just run as much as i feel able to?? any advice would be really helpfull :o

*just an after thought... this might be better suited to the general running board....

Hi there, congrats on the 10K run (was it the WLR one?)! If I were you, I would continue doing a couple of 5K's during the week, and do a longer slower run at the weekend, building up the mileage over time.

You should also consider doing the Winter League in Waterford, that will be starting next month. It's a great way to keep motivated. Hundreds of runners, of all levels, pounding the roads on a Thursday evening :)

thanks so much for the advice RubyK, hopefully the 5k runs will get a bit easier as i go! the 10k i did was on the 12th sept, i think it was something to do with the Munster Express? I'l def sign up for the winter league, i have just found the website with the information, so that will great. thanks again:D

No probs Sarah88. The Munster Express 10K - that's the same one I did last year, my first race - be warned, you'll soon have the bug :D

Stick with it, yes some days are hard, sometimes you feel like you are making no progress, but then you'll have the good days, that make it all worth while.

Best of luck with the training :)
