Stolen cars

Is there a list of the number plates of stolen cars online anywhere? An Offaly van has been parked outside my house for weeks, and I'm beginning to wonder. Tried reporting it to the local gardai (who said they'd look into it), and to gardai in Offaly (who didn't want to know), but it's still there.

Can you call a local council authority who will remove it? A guard can't if it's taxed & insured. A council can remove an abandoned van.

Ring and see if they will send some1 to investigate.

Around my previous place it used to happen quite a lot that I saw abandoned cars, just parked and left there for a few days. I always used to call the Gards with the model, make and the reg number of the suspicious vehicle, in 9/10 cases they came in a couple of hours with a City Council truck and removed the car.

According to this site http://www.dublinwaste.ie/car_removal.html there's a fee of €150 for having abandoned cars removed.

I'm not that fussed if it's just abandoned - it's not my road, just the road in front of my house, after all - but if it's stolen I'd like to let its owner know about it.

The guards should be able to tell you over the phone if its stolen or not. I rang the guards in Naas on two occasions about cars parked outside my place for over a week; one turned out to be stolen and the guard told me on the phone it was in their system as stolen (there was quite a bit of damage too it as well) and they had it taken away that evening.

The guards didn't tell me; the local guards said they'd look into it, and the Offaly guards directed me back to my local station.

It's taxed and insured up to date; the only odd thing is that it's been sitting there not moving for a good while now. Maybe I should break into it and drive it up to the local garda station and leave it parked across their entrance ;)

Maybe try ring Naas gardai so; from my experience they actually seem interested in this kind of thing :D Seriously tho, its not hard for them to bang in a reg number into their system; from what I can gather it should come up as being flagged stolen straight away for them.

Perhaps it's not stolen but abandoned. I haven't read about any missing persons from Offaly, but keep having an uneasy thought... but there's no smell, and no flies, so no worries.

You can find out everything in this country but there's a price tag attached, everything has a price here now. I dread to think what new costs are on the way with the budget.:(

It's only a matter of time before we're charged a cent or so to post on here too I suppose.:(

I doubt very much that Boards will charge anyone for posting, the site relies on traffic and community, if there was a charge it would be a ghost town here.

If you want to PM me the registration number I'd be happy to check with the stolen car unit at Garda HQ for you.
