It should work up to just before the October 31 technical soft launch, however if RTENL decide to change some service settings then it may not and you will have to buy an official Saorview settop box to receive the channels. You could chance it but I would wait a while. :)

Curry's and power city are selling these tv's with freeview hd tuners.
I bought a sony one yesterday and it's working perfectly with RTE at the moment including the hd test.

I am doubtfull that anything will be done at this stage, with the official service starting in less than 3 weeks that would render the telly's useless.

You might even see a Saorview sticker on it in a few weeks. Did it install the radio channels in the 200's? The 200 LCN's are the Saorview positions for radio.

If in the install menu, you select the country setting as Ireland,it may do that.
I'm reluctant to try as I'll be unpopular in this house but I'll check later.

When set to UK,they are all in the 800's with the first radio station below bbc one wales.
RTE one on that setting is at 800.

In the the sony w4000 you could order the digital channels whatever way you wanted,I'm also not sure you can do that though with this tv when it is in UK mode as I'm not sure if you can order the channels differently in a generic freeview hd epg.
I'll find out though and post back.

Whilst I love the tv,what I find annoying is it just comes with a basic manual.
The full manual is actually loaded up as an ebook on the tv itself and is no where near as helpfull as a real manual.

The new Sony TV manuals are crap, same with a Sony 5810 I purchased earlier this year.

A downloadable version of the onboard manual is available on the Sony UK site.

    wow!!!
You can sort the channels on the sony's freeview epg anyway you want!
I've just put rte 1 and 2 on 6 and 7 in the epg.
    It's this tv:

Digital text on RTE also works whilst the tv is set to UK mode too.

I couldn't have built a better tv if I'd have built it myself!

I'll post a pic of the reordered freeview epg maybe later whenI've time as with the mini screen and having both rte and the uk channels on the one epg,it just looks pure sexy!
Such a fast flying epg too!
