hi all dont often post here but im after some advice.im father to 2 year old twins and one of them has a tendency to bite.it rarely happens at home unless his brother takes something off him he really wants and then we manage to stop it before we start but were on the verge of losing his place at the creche because hes always biting others there.i was trying to find the trigger thinking maybe the bigger kids were taking stuff off him but the supervsiors say its a random thing like hes in the habit of doing it as a game.they give him time outs when he does but its not working.is there anything we can do at home to cut him out of the habit?

Amazingly, I was told years ago by someone with the same problem that they were told on the qt;) by a GP, to bite the child gently on the fore arm just after they have bitten someone else:eek::eek::eek::eek:

The parent in question tried this on his own child to make the child realise what they were doing and apparently it worked:eek::eek:

I also heard of another person putting mustard on the tongue of the offending child each time they bit........the bad taste soon put them off.

Both these cases were drastic measures where the biting had become a very serious problem.

Take from that what you will........

yeah ive heard the biting back thing but to be honest im dubious about it for various reasons.what i did do before was get him to bite my finger doused in vinegar, now he just doesnt bite me!!!i have to find a solution because there asking us to take him out for a month if he keeps it up to break his routine, which will cause havoc for me and the wife as regards work
