    Hey Guys.

So were looking to go skiing with college and I'm looking for Info for people who have already done it in a large group.

We want to go to Austria region, from the 22nd of Jan to the 29th of Jan pref in appartments in the same appartment block, also where would i get cheapest flights ect.

The quote they have at the moment is €650 per person, and thats depending on Ryanair flights not going up!

I've got away for half board cheaper then that but it was only 2 of us!!!

So if anybody has any info, contacts for places they've stayed ect please let me know!

    Thanks :)

With a group of 50 you could book your own airplane. A lot of football fans travel across to England this way. Im not sure of the details but it would be worth checking out.

You could also try the UCD Snowsports club or talk to Paul Harte who organises the Irish Snow Champs trip every year

A group of 50 slightly to small for the ecomomics of booking a plane plus you run the risk of operating a Travel Agent without a license you have to love the irish lawsWould contact a TO and see what they can do for you there should be a significant discount for those kind of numbers, I would expect you could do it for approx 400 a head half board flights and accom

the price of a plane was looked at but was muct to high, apparently the cheapest they could get from a TO was something like 750 and they have it down to 550 not including lessons for thoes who need them and thats depending on ryanair flights, and is only b&b but in a hotel as they want us to be together!!!

But there men so I said I'd try give it a go and see where I got!!! :) Us accountants are stingy ****ers!!!! haha plus there students!!!

I remember when I was in Kaprun in Hotel Toni, there was a center of some type accross the road where there was a large group staying, anyine know what this is?????

    Ugh Stress!!!

On the other hand I got off work for saturday, Kilternan here I come!!! :)

Theres a youth hostel in Kaprun, it was probably that.
You could also check out this place in Bad Gastein http://www.euro-youth-hotel.at/
I've not stayed there but have eaten in its restaurant. Its more like a hotel than a hostel, the clientele were all ages too.

Some chalets go up to about 70 guests, would be savage if ye were all in the same one!

St Anton has lots of chalets: www.stantonchalets.co.uk

If you are prepared to go to Andorra. Check out the www.proskitraining.com website. I think around 650 incl 15 hours ski school, lift pass, central apts together etc etc. For a load of students its cheap to party in !

Really good for all levels now. Lots of steeps and off piste routes and 200km of Piste A legendary ski school and area for beginners and intermediates. Pro ski offer a good bit of top class free guiding for advance skiers if part of a big group.

There are a few obvious things you can do to try to get a large group going somewhere for cheap:
    - get lots of quotes from tour operators and then play them off each other
    - after you get the price down, start asking for more free trips for organisers (then spread these across the crowd - in fairness, there isn't 600 euro of work in organising a ski trip)

I've always found large French resorts the easiest place to bring large groups as they have industrial scale sets of apartments.

The other thing that you might contemplate (not to my taste) is bussing it. You could only go to France (about 30 hours) as it is closest and the return bus journey with the hangover is a bit gick.

Also, there is such a large market for college ski trips in the UK that specialist companies have sprung up there to do little else.
Out of the Irish, I have usually found DirectSki to be the cheapest
UK companies worth a look are: Wasteland, Off the piste and Ski Alpine.

I have been looking in to the possibility of hiring a bus and the distance to different ski resorts around but not too sure if its suitable! need to talk to the other members of the organizing committee.

We have been trying to play them off each other, some quotes are very high, one was €855 for flights transfer and accommodation! got a very good quote (of €499 incl EVERYTHING but flights, which are only €75 to Munic West) but it would only be suitable if we were all beginners but for the advanced skiers it is an hour bus in the morning and evening which would be a pain in d ass! :(

Was that price for 499 including food and equipment. Also how many hours ski school.

Can you ring me on 086 2568863.
I have an excellent option to suggest that can compete with that €499 price.
