Book Depository problems

I ordered an atlas from book depository on the 1st Oct and paid with PayPal. It said "usually dispatched within 48 hours" on the atlas page. It's now the 5th and the status of the order is still sodding "processing". I'm really annoyed now. I sent them two messages this morning but have heard nothing.

Is there anything I can do? I'm this close to filing an "item not received" claim with PayPal. 5 days and it's still not dispatched....sheesh  If I could I'd cancel the order and go somewhere else and pay the extra.

Paypal dispute and claim, tell them to cancel the order.

I've never had an issue with them, they are usually very good to deal with.

I'd imagine there website and stock system have become out of synch and they are waiting on the item to arrive in stock (yes, they should have e-mailed you and let you know this, assuming this is the case).

You usually have to allow at least 24 hours for them to respond to your e-mail query.

I also ordered some books from BookDepository for the first time on October 2010.
At early November, and while my books never arrived, they said that a full refund of 137.5 euros will appear in my account shortly.
Shortly became FOREVER, so at January 10 of 2011 after I managed to find aphone number of them at last(!!!),some representative called Lu reassured me that they would send a cheque shortly (AGAIN!).
Then on February 17 after I wrote them that if I don't get my cheque until the 25th, everyone on the web would hear my story, they replied that they would immediately contact their accounting department in order to send the cheque ....guess again....SHORTLY!
I really hope they will clear my issue eventually and save me from 137.5 euros of expenditure, which -believe me- in Greece especially is a large amount of money!

How did you pay? I would have done a charge back after 29 days. I have ordered about 15 books from there in the last 18 months, never had a problem. But always just 1 book at a time.

The 'we'll refund you be cheque' is a bit odd.

Just read that its Greece, there's a reason most ebayers don't deliver there!

Can I dig up a zombie thread please as I am the OP and my post is very relevant? Gave BD another go last Sunday after two years away (nearly to the day spookily!) mainly because I couldn't find the book anywhere else. Website had those lovely words "usually shipped in 48 hours". So I thought "surely it couldn't happen twice. They've bound to have solved whatever problems they had by now". As of tonight it's still "processing". Contacted them by email early yesterday and yes you've guessed it the single trained monkey on the email system hasn't replied. It seems their checkout system has no other statuses except for "processing" or "dispatched". I urge people to think twice before using them. God I'm angry and frustrated. I must be the unluckiest BD shopper ever. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

Book Depository of late has been EXTREMELY slow to deliver, I used to get books within a few days and now its 2 weeks!

Used them once, exact same thing happened, 'usually dispatched within 48 hours' was still 'processing' a week later, complained by email and the book eventually dispatched 9 days later, won't ever use them again.

That's a shame about BD, its one of the names that I generally think - ok they are fine, I have never had any problems with them.
