For all those of you cast into boredom since the LWord finished, BBC3 have a new lesbian drama starting next Tuesday at 10:30 (I think the time is right!)

Should pass away a few of the winter evenings quite nicely :D
    'Lip Service' info here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00tq4d9

    Enjoy, x

I have been watching the promos for this, it looks great! Didn't realise they'd set a date for airing yet, that's fab. Hello, DVR! :D

Looking forward to watching it. Read the profiles and see myself in one of the characters already. Thank god for sky +

Saw the ad for this the other day, that Frankie one is hot (which is always means the show will be good! :P)

I always hated the L word (most.boring.show.EVER!) so I hope this will be good :D

I ****ing LOVE the L word. I just want to stab Jenny with my scorn.

The good thing about this new one is Scottish accents.

loved this, cant wait for next week. Frankie is hot and i love tess she's so cute

    I watched this.
After all the months of hype, it delivered pretty much as predicted. The next episode should be more telling because there was a feeling that we'd already seen the first episode because of all the promos over the summer. There were no real surprises.

Frankie is the draw but acting honours go to Cat (Laura Fraser.)

No access to BBC3. I saw it on megavideo.

Why does everyone fancy Frankie? Same as Shane, it's the classic idea that chicks love the baddies...

I love Cat. Then again I go for the high maintenance girls! ;)

I thought it was really great, although
the sex scene in the funeral home really freaked me out. I don't care if you work there, missus, no-one should be ok with shagging in front of uncovered corpses!!!!:eek:

And for those that missed it, I've noticed on my UPC that it's being repeated a fair bit, plus there's always... other means. ;)

wasn't expecting much but started to get into it towards the end, was a bit slow to start with. Next weeks episode looks promising though. I don't have a favourite yet although hope the copper cat dated is going to be a regular :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 86 ✭✭electrobi

I like Frankie, she'd be cool to hang out with. Tess is adorable(she's kind of the Alice of the show) but I don't like Cat at all(so far). I don't see her as "high maintenance" I see her as uptight, I guess like most of the girls I've *almost* dated!

    Roll on ep2.

Ah, but once you get the uptight ones loose... :D:p:D:p

How can I watch this online? Is there away of sneaking round the country block?

    sweetness.

Enjoyed ep2 more than 1 - nice to see the characters develop a bit more. Yes, as others have said, there are very direct parrallels with the LWord Shane = Frankie Tess = Alice and Kat.. well, not too sure on that one just yet :D

Have to say I enjoy Tess and the predicaments she has gotten into, some good laughs there. Looking forward to next week and see what happens ;)

It is great to have a show with such obvious and open gay content on mainstream (BBC3?) television.
It is a bit of fun but if good writing, acting or plot is of primary importance, there isn't much of ithem in Lip Service I'm afraid.
But of course I'm watching it. :) DS Murray is my favourite this week.

people said the same thing about the Lword, it appears the storylines are always going to limited to relationship issues, in a relationship drama :) and while some of the acting is hammy I'm hoping in time it will soften out as we get to know the characters a bit better. (I'm liking DS Murray too, if only someone would let me pluck her eyebrows)

Easily my new favourite show. I don't pay much attention to the parts with dialogue or anything though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,512 ✭✭✭baby and crumble

If I see one more lingering shot of Frankie looking moodily into the distance I might throttle someone.

On the other hand- my my my, Detective Seargent Sam... Aren't we looking lovely? Yum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭Plek Trum

Ha ha. too true - must have very interested in the walls in her apartment :D Lots of looking into the distance, frankly I'd be worried if I was doing that too often, too much time on my hands..

DS Murray - yes indeedy. Didn't 'get' it initially but have to say I wouldn't mind being questioned if needs be.. ahem.. ;)

Watched episode three. I'm disappointed in it and I'm liking the series less and less.

Cat and DS Murray in her office at the police station? After Sam's outburst about what she said she goes through there daily? Really? Really?
Tess is increasingly annoying. Frankie has always been so. And where did she pack her camera equipment? She had hardly any luggage at all when lothario Jay picked her up at the airport. I find Sadie strange beyond belief, creepy even!
I'm still watching but I wish there was more of a plot, an engaging storyline and more believeable dialogue. Just what I'd want in any film drama.

Better episode this week. At last some plot and some acting.

Really hope this gets picked up for another series... loved the finale. :'(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

The series really grew in to itself in the last couple of episodes.
The finale had real heart and looked great.
Interesting places for all the characters to end up in and quite emotional too.
    Looks promising for another series.

That is all I have to say on the matter of last nights episode.

I don't watch much TV but I think I was a bit traumatised after watching that last night, didn't even want to go for a drink and just curled up in bed.

So that was the first episode of this I've seen and is it really bad of me to say I don't get the hype? I found the acting really, really bad and it kind of ruined it. Although my heart did skip a beat when that thing happened out of nowhere that deserves spoiler tags.

    blasphemy. leave the thread now.

Fair to say that when I watched the first episode of the second series last week I was reminded how crappy the acting was. I just wasn't prepared for what happened next. I suppose if you haven't been following then you're not going to register the impact it has on the storyline and characters.

For the first time in the series I felt for Frankie, who's genuinely bugged the sh/t out of me for most of the last series.
I thought if any character was going to go it would have been her.
I know her scenes were a bit more emotive than the rest but her scenes in that episode were acted out better than anything else in any of the shows previously. Fair play.
I'll admit I cried when she lay down next to the grave

Just an FYI I changed the thread title to reflect the 2nd series air time. :)

I was not expecting Cat to be getting killed off, what a shocker that was!! And so well done aswell, really looked like that car hit her :D I was holding back tears through the rest of the episode - all I could think of was how lost I'd be if that was my baba
