Geothermal Collectors and Hedge

    Hello
I have a Geothermal System with horizontal ground collectors (4ft deep) in my back garden which is quite big. I wish to section off part of the garden by putting in a beech hedge ( which has shallow roots) over the area where the ground collectors are. Thing is I remember being told not to plant deep rooted trees over the area where the collectors are?? Can someone tell me why this is?? is it because the roots will wrap themselves around the collectors eventually and reduce the efficiency of the system or some other reason?? I would ask the guys that put it in but my faith in them is minimal...

    Thanks for any info
    MC
