Heat recovery from boiler

    Hi,

    I have a LPG boiler in my new purchased home. It is 12 years old and is not a condenser boiler. As such a lot of heat is lost out the exhaust. Can I use a heat recovery ventilation system to get this heat into my home via a heat exchanger and as a component of in incoming fresh air? As it is LPG and this is the same as a Superser uses there should be minimal risk of CO issues as efficient LPG combustion produces just CO2 and H2O. Any thoughts?

    I like the idea (I like tinkering in general!) but i suspect there are any number of safety reasons for not doing it or anything that changes the spec of the system.
    The standard approach in this situation is to upgrade your boiler to a condenser and while you are at it, fit TRV's to all your rads.

    If you do that I suspect you would be gased in about 3 day's. There is Co in the exauhst of an LPG boiler and if it's 12 years old it would be higher than a more up to date one. If you got the boiler serviced and an engineer seen your set up if you went a head with it he would cap the boiler off and issue a notification of Hazard, I know I would.
