    Hi,

I have my driving test tomorrow in the evening but was never sent a confirmation letter. I was however sent a confirmation text and I am wondering would this be suffice to show upon my arrival?

    Thanks.

After you apply for your test, you get a letter or email confirming receipt of your application. Then you should get a letter informing you of your test date. That would usually be that. They have started sending texts. If you have something telling you your test is on tomorrow. Go. If your appointment is tomorrow, they will be expecting you. You don't need to have the letter with you.

I've never been asked for a letter for any test I've done. I never even got a confirmation for the bike test as I got a last minute cancellation on a Friday for a Monday test.

All I've ever been asked for was my provisional licence.

I've only been asked for my provisional, I never brought the confirmation email with me.

Well, I failed and you can guess that I am in bad humour right now. It was in Churchtown and I was unfortunate enough to get a tester that was an old fart. He went out of his way to mark me on many things that I didn't fail in the previous test.

Does anyone have any suggestions for another test centre preferably in Dublin? As I have failed twice in Churchtown now and am at a loss on how to improve my driving except try another test centre.

Talk to your instructor. They should be able to tell you what you are doing wrong. If you really want a different test centre, Tallaght has a higher pass rate.

The statistics say Tallaght is 41% compared to 43% in Churchtown though?

Sorry. I work northside. I remembered that wrong, it seems.

No bother, I'll probably just end up doing Churchtown again.

Choosing Rathgar would probably be pissing 75 euro away again before I even do the test.

You don't get a choice. The test centre is Chruchtown/Rathgar, or at least it was the last time I booked a test there, and it's pot luck on which one you get. Book Tallaght and get some lessons on their routes.

The last two times I booked you chose your date like you chose an NCT appointment. You could pick the location as well. I think it's just a pilot system though and won't always be the same.
