springer wont bring retrieve into me

    hi lads,my dog will hunt for ireland.but the few times he has had fur and feather he will come within 10 feet of me and lie down..what tips to get him in .

    I had the same trouble with mine for a while but she is nearly out of it now. There are a few things to do first try doing retrieves in an area where the dog cant get away from you so your not running after her making it a game. I used a fenced roadway with a gate at the end. The second thing is once she gets the dummy pretend to be walking away but keep one eye on her and once shes beside you take the dummy with loads of praise. I gave mine some bits of treats from my pocket for the first few days with the praise so its coming together now.

    Ya I had to do the same thing, once the dog is not too old and set in its way
