Ghosting laptop

I have two almost identical laptops. An Acer Extenza 5220(Celeron Processor) and an Extenza 5620z(Pentium DualCore). The 5220 has Windows vista, but the problem is with the 5620z, it has XP Pro in Polish.

Is there a way I can copy everything from the Vista laptop to the Polish XP one?

If I could, would I see any problems from boot?

Would it be recommended to put Win7 on the XP one, thus eliminating any problems in the future with software and the likes, considering XP is not supported anymore?

    Thanks in advance
    Neuro

The license for Vista is not transferable if the laptop came with Vista. The laptops may be similar, but could be vastly different under the hood.

I would suggest just biting the bullet and installing a fresh copy of Windows 7 on the current XP laptop.

Depending on the hardware in both laptops you might be able to image the disk in one and mirror it onto the other - however, I wouldn't hold out hope of this being straightforward if you've got two different processor architectures.

There are also licence issues that come into play regarding the OS.

Your easiest solution is to buy a Windows 7 upgrade licence and apply this to the machine with XP. The licence entitles you to upgrade your Windows XP system to Windows 7; however, given the language issue you currently have you should probably do a clean install of Windows 7 first time around, then "upgrade" that in order to get the activation routine to correctly recognize your licence.
