Photoshop Disasters also has a few e.g. this - another version of one in the Empire list:

    Ouch.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

Anyone else really miss the days of hand drawn movie posters. Used to love them as a kid.

My favourite throwback to them was this one:

    national-lampoons-vacation-poster.jpg

What we have now with the absurd levels of photoshopping being used is like a quasi real/fake melange of weird which sits firmly in the uncanny valley.

Still, I suppose it's better than floating heads.

Another one that's not on the list that stood out to me. It's obvious they've taken a photo of Steve standing upright, rotated it and then shopped some pancakes to appear like he is resting his head on them when nothing about his head or skin looks like he is touching the pancakes. WHERE'S HIS LEFT SHOULDER???

That would be the awesome Drew Struzan.

Movies posters have gone from this:

Bah, the funny ones I could think off were already mentioned by Empire :/

If you get a chance, I'd strongly recommend comparing the front and back covers of the Death at a Funeral remake DVD. It's hilarious seeing the characters from the front photoshopped in the exact same positions on the back poster, but in a completely different photo (if that makes sense).

Seriously, how hard is it to get four or five people standing together in a photo?

No art in movie posters anymore. :(

I think there are a handful that still have an impact. It's an easy sell, but I think the Social Network has a wonderful poster. Of course it uses the facebook layout, but the catchy tagline and dominating profile image of Eisenberg helps sell the ideas the film hopefully (and apparently does) explore:

    The-Social-Network-Poster-21-6-10-kc.jpg

Plus, I absolutely adore this poster for Evangelion 2.0 (the 'cross' is what happens when the series antagonists - Angels - explode), which I really have to get a print of:

    516211.1020.A.jpg

Both are pleasant changes from Matthew McConaughey looking smug.

Are these posters for real? Some of the people in the posters look like the South Park Saddam Hussein

    sleuth-poster-0.jpg

    seriously WTF,

    juuuudas.JPG

Jude Law looks like a pre pubescent Emma Watson in that poster. It's pretty disturbing.

I remember this in the cinema and thinking it was some horror film about weir stretchy necks.

As great a film as The Fall is the poster they used is terrible

    TheFallMoviePoster.jpg

All they had to do was take one of the dozen of truly stunning images from the film and use that.

Well there's a reason they picked the one they went with obviously

    salvador_dali_mae_west_postcard_1.jpg

I'm not mad about it myself but understand why they'd pick that over other ones.

Can I use this thread as an opportunity to moan about the Scrubs DVD covers?

Worse that season 2 has the same image on the inside except for an X-ray being held up in front of Zach Braff.

Jesus, with the amount of time from whoever spent airbrushing the hell out of JRM they could've painted reasonable poster.
