    Hello,

I'm starting to have a go at writing a novel. The plot is an extension of a novelette I have written based in rural ireland in 1930-50. It's not completely fleshed out but getting there. I've got three characters who have popped up before in stories I have written. I think I've got a pretty interesting story lined up for each but the thing is they are all male. Is this likely to pose a problem for me down the line? Thoughts?

If the story just has male characters I don't think you stand to gain anything by shoehorning female ones in to make up the numbers.

Even if there are no female main characters, there will probably be minor female characters. Plus, the reader will probably get a sense of their attitudes and feelings toward women throughout the course of the book. I really wouldn't worry about it.

I'd love a story with some good strong male characters that aren't necessarily trying to blow up the world, or stop a maniac blowing up the world.
