Getting sick of the hypocrisy exhibited by RTE presenters. On one hand the are jumping on the bandwagon by highlighting underhanded practises by polititicans, banks and developers etc.
Have you noticed how many RTE chat shows feature RTE presenters?
Have you seen the holidays the likes of Tubridy And Duffy are sent on courtesy of the "No Frontiers" program? Orient express etc courtesy of the tax payer. Duffy and Fanning etc get to travel to Africa, U.S etc under the pretense of makng an Irelands greatest person show. There was no obvious reason for them to visit these countries - just the RTE version of a politican's junket. Fanning programme featured maybe 2 minutes of film from Africa that could have easily been taken from library stock. But hey, why let practicability get in the way of a good junket funded by Joe Public?
On Saturday night Brendan O'Connor entertained Dave Fanning, Claire Byrne and Daithi O Shea. Today Fanning turns up on 'Shea and Byrnes show. Do they seriously think the license payer is as interested in listening to their mundane self serving waffling as their colleages are? Is there no lengths or expense they won't go to rub the license payers face in their up-each-others lifestyles?

no lotti will do. That really annoys me also , maybe she has the qualities to be a good presenter but dont anyone tell me that it wasnt easier for her to get her foot in the door because of her aul lad . Hopefully she will be better than that tool

I understand your frustration. Follow these two simple steps to alleviate it:

    1) Don't pay your license

    2) Don't watch RTE

Good post buddy, but nothing new or groundbreaking.

These people in 'the club' out there and indeed, others in the same industry, always do what they do best: promote and shill each other and ride the arsehole of the taxpayer and those of us dim enough to think they are worth the salaries they get.

Now I am not saying they don't all have talent and are not good at what they do, but the wedge is way out of line with industry norms.

Check the social pics in any publication and generally the same punters and wasters crop up

    NO chin Dowling and Pippa

    The Seoighe sisters

    Orange head Fanning

    and so on.

It's all a game folks ,just don't buy into it ;)

You pay a licence to have a television capable of receiving a signal.

It works in the same way you pay a yearly licence to the F.A.I for your football capable of receiving a kick-about.

    It makes so much sense........

TV licences are given out too easily. There should be a test first. Things like -

Proper remote control use, how to connect scart and HDMI connections, proper viewing distance/angle, good choice in programming. I've seen way too many people using them irresponsibly and it needs to stop.

It's been this way in RTE for as long as I can remember. There's heaps of new young talent out there but it's exceptionally hard for them to break through. However, once your in your in. Then it's an incestous gravy train.

There may be great young talent out there and rte are employing young people for there childerns shows but they are talentless im talking about the young fellas you see around this time that are bet in to their clothes and have a ridiculous hair cut

    I thought "Family Circle".

Old fashioned, traditional and rather boring, but if you're having cup of tea and there's nothing else available to go with it, well, it'll do.

Why is everyone so upset at RTE for sending people around the world to make TV programmes? Is this not what they should be doing for a programme like 'No Frontiers'?

And true, some personalities get a lot of money... but doesn't that come with the business worldwide? If they are keeping RTE's ratings up is it not worth it to them? And if your average Joe the taxpayer is so upset, how are the ratings so high?

Sending people is fine - sending their smug mates on high priced holidays isn't. Why is it the same people on several shows travelling all over the world?

Nobody posted anything about their wages?
I've no problem with anyone getting what they are worth. Just fed up with their abuse of their position in so far as they keep each other in junkets and fill their shows with their mates. Wouldn't you rather see your tv license money sending joe average off on the orient express? Do you think Dave Fanning needed to travel to Africa for less than 2 minutes of film? (Irelands greatest programme)

I thought this was a new show where people take turns pissing on Pat Kenny.

    disappointed now.

I expected the thread to be about a bunch of RTE employees caught engaging in some filthy practice, the details of which I didn't yet fully understand. Apparently that is not what was meant by 'golden circle'. A bit disappointed.

I remember Pat Kenny said he wasnt on much money compared to premiership footballers
what a knob, hes on ridiculous money
    RTE should be shut down
