I was a member there a year ago, and I can't fault the place, smashing course always in top condition, great bunch of lads in the club, fantastic club house good food.
I couldn't afford to keep my membership with them this year and decided to go with somewhere cheaper, and I have to tell you it was the worst decision I have made in a long time.
Now they have reduced their fees, it looks like I'll be heading back.

Sounds good. Thanks for that. Yeah the fees are quite resonable and it's only down the road from me which is good. Id be looking to play in some comps, get to know a few members and that.

I am kind of in your situation, why was the move so bad? Was the club a lot worse than your previous club, the course a lot worse too?

Na the club I joined has a fine course, not as good as castle knock but good in it's own way.
My problem was with the club house and the apthmosphere, castle knock is just streets ahead of my new club, I like to have a chat with the members after a round and have a bite to eat.
No members seemed to use the club house after a game, and the food was a joke.
Sometimes we don't know when we have it good, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

    Couple of questions lads...

+ How many members are there?
+ Are there only comps on Sundays? What format do they usually take (stableford etc?)
+ Do the club push the club teams much?
+ Is it easy to get out on weekends/after work?

There are competitions every Saturday and Sunday, stableford format, you can play in both as two seperate competitions, there is not an overall weekend prize any more. Entry is a fiver. the usual monthly medal on a sunday.
Tee times are between 8am and 10am for members. As there are not TOO many members at the moment ( i'm guessing 120-150 or so??) you have no problem getting out at those times ( it seems to be the same 20 or 30 people playing each comp) if you book a day or further in advance (we have a really good online booking system). No probs getting out after work. Societies tend to book 10am to 3pm or so saturday/sunday, or if not these times get booked by members/visitors, but you can easily get out after work when the light allows it.
I've been a member just over 2 years, will definately be renewing. Its a fairly quiet club but everyone very friendly and ive no complaints (now that the membership has been reduced!). The place is very well maintained and the clubhouse is excellent. I don't really drink there as i'm not within walking distance myself unlike a good few members (thus usual car issue for myself) but the bar is good. Overall i think comparing it to other courses (which might be cheaper) the 1750 plus the 150 bar levy is good value.

100% agree with whats said above, I know quiet a few ex members joining back again........As I said in a previous post I'am joining back with my brother as is another poster above(sweetswing) summer up there is incredible having played, have a shower, bite to eat, and a few pints out on the balcony, I've realised since joining another club this year that the social aspect of this club is very important....

Have to say the course and facilities are superior to anything on offer in the area ... played it many times this year and used the facilities quite often entertain clients - food is great and affordable and the clubhouse is always buzzing ...

    I'm interested in joining too.

Anyone know if they accept weekly/monthly payments or is it €1750 up front?

Awful pity they don't have a driving range/practice area though for the long game. Would be a class course if it wasn't for that. The driving nets aren't much good for practicing the long game.

Asked this question myself when enquiring about membership ... think they'll take €1,000.00 up front and the balance by end of March 2011

Still too dear for what it is. Particularly with such poor payment options on offer.
