Just wondering if anyone else had this experince with NCT. I had my NCT yesterday after waiting 2.5 months. So my test was due to be free. Off I go to the test centre and they guy say that be €50.

So I said that this was supposed to be free due to waiting time and he said oh yeah I can see this but you have to pay and then apply for a refund but it is not guaranteed. So I explained that my uncle was up day before and he was in same situation and was told he did not have to pay a thing. He choose to say oh well that has nothing to do with him so if I wanted the test to cough up the cash. So I had no choice to pay.

While my car was being checked another customer came in and was going to pay but the guy said no it was free as he was waiting a month. I was raging and considered complaining but, and I know this was stupid, but did not want to cause a fuss in case they failed my car so had to contact NCT this morning. The reply I got send in invoice and they would consider the €50 refund. I rang on the 20th July for test and got a date 3rd Oct so that wel over 4 weeks. It must be an individual thing at the test centres then as to wheter or not they charge you.
