    Hey everyone,

    I'm a graduate of chemical and process engineering and trying really hard to get a job with my degree with no luck. I keep trying Ireland and U.K with no luck. I am now joined a world wide recruitment agency.

    My question is does anyone know of any companies looking for chemical and process enginers anywhere in the world?

    Please help. Thanks in advance!

    Not sure, but have you looked into pfizer or wyeth or abbot?

    Well Pfizer is reducing their workers numbers. Remember the front spread in the EVENING ECHO? Their closing down plants so don't think they will be taking on graduates.

    Wyeth took control of Schering Plough in Brinny, Cork and are reducing numbers there too.

    All doom I'm afraid. Know anyone in anyone in a chemical plants?

    Cheers for the reply. :).

    No problem, heard that but thought they might have positions for graduates in Cork. Have you looked into the States or Australian companies?

    Wyeth=Pfizer.

    Just because there are redundancies does not mean there are no jobs- often experienced people are laid off and cheap grads take their place (I'm not saying this is the case for Pfizer, just in general.

    Abbott are recruiting, I know of over 20 grads who have gotten jobs there in the last year, 3 of them chemical engineering grads from UCD in the last 3 months.

    My bad,

    Was thinking of Merck and their take over of Schering Plough! Your correct.

    Yea thats my thinking as well so I apply to alot of companies but seem to get no where. I'm not looking for a job to be handed to me, I'll go out and get it myself. I'm just looking for a bit of advice here or see what other people or graduates in my position are doing?

    Cheers.

    Have you tried looking at some of the bigger specialised engineering companies, who generally hire C&P engineers for contract work both in Ireland and in places like Singapore etc?
    One I can think of off the top of my head is DPS Engineering.

    Who gives a damn? If they let go two billion adminsitration employees, they may still be looking for chemical and process engineers...
