My friends have even tried setting me up with people they thought I would perfect with and have all ended in disaster. Whats that all about ?!?!?!? So I am open to suggestions <snip>

Do you play any sport? Or what are your hobbies? You should definitely try joining groups that have a good women to men ratio - mixed sports teams, hiking clubs, music groups, depending on what your into, if you google search it, you'll most likely find groups that you could join.
