spend 750 euro on groceries in October
and get 65 euro back in December

the most I spend on groceries 120 every week = 480
so I would have to spend an extra 270 to avail of this offer
    I dont think so

    8.7% back from your spend.

Meh, Lidl had 10% off everything for a day during the summer, no minimum. Up your offer Dunnes!

my letter is even lower, spend e300 between 4th oct to 31st oct, get e30 back on valu club vouchers. Letters/amounts must depend on the history of shopping..Im not well in with Dunnes am I:(

I haven't even got a mailing from them. Last few times, have had to call them up and remind them there was no tokens sent out. I think it's all a gemmick. Would be much better to give you a discount as you shop to encourage you back again. Thanks to Aldi and Lidl for coming to at least wake up some of these other stores as to how they need to watch the prices as customers were being ripped off continually and still are in certain lines.

See now that one is actually achieveable! Wish I'd gotten that one

Got one today also, €600 and get €45 back. The day I can spend €600 a month in Dunnes will be when I'm an overpaid TD.

Ah I dont know where they got that average from
I wish I spent nearly 750 a month I'd be eating luxury food instead of economy

its a strange promotion that one

    got mine aswell.

    spend €600 get €45 cashback.

basturds, only went shopping yesterday and the deal runs from today 4th till oct 31st.
You cannot use the purchase of Tomacco, Lotto, Baby formula, Gift vouchers, Gift cards, Savings stamps, and mobile top ups towards the total you need to spend.

would never spend 600.00 per month, but would have been achievable as i could have bought stuff for Christmas.

Got the same 300/30 offer, rarely shop in Dunnes, as said offer seems to be based on average spend

Mine says Spend E400 get E35?? Most I'd spend in Dunnes a week is E50 so no chance of getting this. Have to wait ages to get normal vouchers never mind this "bonus"

I got one, spend 200 for 30 back. I usually spend 150 every 2 weeks so will be no problem getting over that.

Think you can get beer, so if having a party, could be easy to get a couple of hundred on this.

I didnt get any but my mother got one for 300/30 offer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

I'd spend about €200 max in Dunnes per month, dunno where they'd get €650 from!

Very easy to work this one out.
They've taken your adverage spend over the last few months and upped the limit to spend to get the "refund".
So if you spend say €100 per month, they will probably send you a €200/€30 letter or if you spend €500 a month, then you'll get a €750/€65 letter.
This means that you[ll have to spend approx 50-100% more for the month to get the refund.
The "month" runs from 4th Oct to 31st Oct so it's not even a full month.
If you don't spend the full amount of the "Christmas Reward Offer", you get NOTHING back. So if it's €750 for the 28 days and you spend €740, you get Zilch back.
The "refund" is back in Value Card vouchers which you get in December statement, in time for Christmas shopping.
Much prefer Tesco which has the deals where you can get 4 times the value in different deals.

I found some vouchers which has been mislaid, for both Dunnes & Tesco which had expired.
I wrote to both of them and explained the situation.
Dunnes said nothing we can do for you.
Tesco said no problems we'll replace them for you. :D
Guess where I do my shopping now?

They want €1100 from me to get €90 back,

The Tesco points scheme is ridiculous. Buy X product and get so many points in your next statement - eventually 50 points will transfer into 5c. Is it worth it.

Having worked with a supplier that paid for this service - Tesco are pocketing a load of money. We had to pay the cent equivalent to points received for the item.
Lets say a branded apple - in your statement you get a voucher saying: buy branded apple (at full price) and receive 50 points. The supplier has to pay 50c per 50 points claimed. You receive your points in your next statement a few months later, which will by now have transformed into a value of 5c!
So where has the 45c gone? Who's pockets have been lined with this handy profit??????

Why are people still shopping in Tesco?? They are squeezing the life out of Irish suppliers, and we will be left with foreign brands on our shelves. Is that what we want?

They are trying to streamline us with the UK - we are completely different consumers. The Irish are brand loyal. Tesco Ireland have received orders from Tesco UK to increase private label and squeeze out local brands. Will we take it?

May be ridicolous but it's a lot better than Dunnes.
Dunnes you can only spend in the shop.
Tesco you can spend in the shop or use them to get 4 x the value in offers from different places.
    I'd rather the choice myself.
Tesco profits were up 12% last year, there's only person paying for that.

This is actually incorrect. 50 points will transfer into 50 cent

I am not Irish but I'd shop in Superquinn, M&S, Dunnes followed lastly by Tesco's - in that order. Similar problem with Superquinn and Tesco in the same week - presented own store extra loyalty points voucher which failed to scan at check out with valid purchases.

Superquinn cashier: Sorry, I wont delay you further or ask you to go to customer service counter, but I'll give you a discount now of €4 equivalent to what you will get with 400 extra points.

Tesco cashier: throw the coupon back with no explanation except "won't scan" although it is issued by Tesco and obviously valid. Or worse still, if it is a valid printed promotional voucher one gets online or through an email - Tesco would accuse one of fraud/forgery by trying to get money off with a "photocopy"!

Promotional coupons are meant to generate good will and business. Tesco manages to create ill feelings and put off customers.

M & S is also great with customer service - very apologetic whenever the till price is incorrect or discount advertised not given at till point. When I enquired with one of the girls about a cheap everyday wine out of stock, she insists on taking my no. and called a few days later to tell me when new stock has arrived! Tesco customer service tries to make you feel you are scamming them if they have made a mistake like failing to remove yellow tickets from the shelves from last week's promotions!

I wait for the day that another major Supermarket chain comes in to Ireland, will set them all straight.
I got a spend E300 and get E30 off deal myself, that i may do as herself gets some of the clothes in dunnes and we get the odd homeware too but Tesco get's majority of my grocery spend.
The homeware and clothes spend will probably end up in Naas from next month when herself gets me over to the new Tesco super when it opens.
I look forward to some good offers from all the chains leading up to the festive season but i won't hold my breath :p.

If the Eur/GBP exchange rate keeps edging up over the next few weeks, guess where most of the grocery shopping will be done?

its a con I was even questioning myself thinking did I actually spend that much NO WAY Dunnes keep your rotten, mean vouchers.
I'm basically the same have a hubbie with an enormous appetite and 2 kids would only dream of spending that much money on food.

    I got no offer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

    Mary Harney?

    Ouch :D

    I got no offer!

Guess you need to stop spending your money in other supermarkets and go and buy everything you need in Dunnes.
Then you will receive a letter from Dunnes offering to give you a "rebate" of between 5-10% of the massive spend you will have done for the month.
The you can enjoy spending the "rebate" in their shop.
Now see what you're missing

I wish that aldi and Lidl would get into the loyalty card scams that would
really put the willys up the rest of them. Tesco by far have the best marketing ploys poor auld dunnes just cannot compete.

Couldn't see what Aldi and Lidl would get out of it?
    Not enough branches around either.
