I'm living in South Korea now and have my bike just sitting at home in Ireland doing nothing. Couldn't sell it, so it's a very expensive ornament now.

Does anyone have any experience with shipping a bike internationally from Ireland? I'm limited to the research I can do, as I can't call different agencies to get prices and so forth, or even find out if it is possible.

Doesn't look like I'm going to be leaving here for the foreseeable future, so I'd like to have my bike with me.

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Watch out for possibly big fees / tax / whatever on import. South Korea can be pretty bad on that for vehicles made outside the country.

Would you consider buying a second hand Hyosung / Daelim over there? Can be head for probably less than the cost of shipping your bike, plus servicing and maintaining them costs next to nothing in Korea. I owned two different Hyosungs when I lived there - one was a 1995 bike, one was 2003. Zero problems with either of them.

If you take the notional value of your bike here, subtract shipping and customs in Korea from it, (which will be a lot, btw.........), then that's what you should sell your bike from here, to not lose any more money.

That sum should then, I'd wager, but a nicy Hyosung GT, over there. I saw a lovely new 10 G xxxx reg one the other day, and, I have to say, I was very impressed with it.

What is your bike here, btw. ?

It's an 09 Fazer 600. Just sitting there. Unloved. Cost me nearly 10k in total :( I could get a bike here no bother, but I love my bike and was willing to go to a little expense to have a one of a kind here as there are none. I've been offered 4k for my bike, but to lose nearly 6k in a year is just not going to happen. Ever.

I think I remember that bike, black and semi naked? I'm looking to rent something for a few months....Also 10k seems an awful lot for a Fazer...

Not six grand. More around four. Its why you only buy new if you plan to keep for a good few years.

Wow, nice bike: I didn't think it was something that new/shiney/expensive. That puts a different light on it, tbh.

Start with Custom's enquiry, and whether you have to re-reg it, even temporarily, in S.K., first. If that's reasonable, then shipping a bike of that value could well make sense.
