    McIlroy/McDowell watches

I'm not sure if any one else noticed during the McIlroy/McDowell interview after their win yesterday the watches they were wearing. They both did a lot of poking at their faces with their left hands as they were being interviewed and the watches looked to be identical.

When Langer was captain he gave the team watches. I was wondering if they were team watches or if they were sponsored as I didn't think they were allowed promote any merchandise during the Ryder Cup.

As far as I know they are both sponsored by Audemars Piguet, whose watches start at around €10,000. I would suspect they were partaking in some stealth advertising.

Ye I noticed GMc watch. A mighty fine looking time piece it was. Was he playing with it on? Big lump of a yoke if he was.

There must be big money in watches! Check out the Audemars Piguet list of 'ambassadors'

Kim and McIlroy join the manufacturer’s illustrious pro-golfer roster, which already includes Lam Chih Bing, Darren Clarke, Nick Faldo, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castaño, Miguel Angel Jiménez, Shiv Kapur, Shingo Katayama, Cristie Kerr, Thomas Levet, Graeme McDowell, Rocco Mediate, Morgan Pressel, Vijay Singh, DJ Trahan, and Lee Westwood.

Not sure how subtle the advertising was though. It was the most obvious merchandising I've seen in a long time!

I noticed McIlroys on each ocassion he was interviewed after he finished each of his matches, considering the interviews usually took place 2 mins or so after he finished he must have 'raced' to put his on, not the natural thing to do after finishing a game, unless your paid a lot to do it of course

Anyone else notice the players that never doned a Cap/Hat during play eg McDowell, Westwood, goes to show, no sponsor, me not wear..

I can understand the hat thing. I dont blame them for taking every opportunity to get a bit of sun on their otherwise snow white foreheads. Of all the funny sporting looks, ie rugby cabbage ear, boxers nose etc the golfers forehead has to be the most stupid looking.

I dunno... wearing a Liverpool shirt comes pretty close too.
