Lock gone on my Car - advice

Hi everyone

I have a 99 volkswagon saloon polo. The lock is gone on the drivers side. I can still lock it by going around to the passenger side and centrally locking it from there. But if I put the key in the door on the drivers side it just keeps turning and turning and turning. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this and what a garage might charge? Would this be an NCT issue also?

I'd say all ya need is a new barell. Iirc it's about 30 for the barell and 50 or 60 to gt it made up

go into a VAG dealer with your VIN number and proof of ownership. They can make a new barrel to match your current keys and its cheap, about 50quid. Dead easy to fit too, all you need is an allen key to remove the old one.

You shouldn't need a whole new barrel. This went on my old golf and there is a holding bracket that breaks. This holds the barrel in place within the door. You should only have to replace the bracket.

This has been an issue with VWs for years, you'd think they'd sort it.
