now that you can turn off the gmail conversation mode in your browser, has anyone found an option to do it on your phone?

    i've got a 2.2 htc desire.

    thanks

Pretty sure it is under a different app called Talk. Just go into this and adjust your settings to invisible if you don't want to natter to anyone that way.

It was only launched on the web version last week. I expect there will be a google apps update for the phone soon.

In the meantime, you could try http://m.gmail.com in your browser.

@ellinguistico - the conversation mode is the way google groups all related emails together. i'm not talking about google talk. thanks for the reply though.

@mr e - dont want to use mobile browser for gmail on the phone. the inbuilt app is generally pretty good. i hoped i was missing an option but i guess i'll have to wait :(

Don't know if this will work, but I think Gmail can be accessed via POP3 protocol. You could then download a pop3 client like K9 and set it up to access it like a regular inbox. In theory it should come close to what you want.

yah, the normal pop or even imap connections always did that, but i like the gmail app interface you see.

i want all the cake and then i want to eat it :)

May I ask why you don't like conversation mode? I find it quite handy for organising etc. so I'd be interested to hear the opposing use case.

I sent 3 people an email. I bcc them all. Its a mess when everyone replys.

    One example.

anyone read any updates from google or anything on this? i find the various archive options etc very useful so i don't want to use imap / pop3.

I hated the conversation mode when gmail first came out, but they converted me and now I can't stand the non conversation mode that i get in Outlook (whatever that might be called). It is only an annoyance for threads where you have bcc'ed people though so I just put up with it for that seeing as it is better for everything else.
