Wicklow GC - Hole Nbr 7

Hole Nbr 7- Par 3 , two tier levels green.

If the pin in the bottom level of the green, which is the front part of the green and you hit your shot at the back of the green, you might as well scratch the hole!!!!!

Problem here is that once you tap the ball from the back of the green down the slope to the lower end to where the pin is, it will just run down the bottom of the green and into a deep bunker if you miss the flag. Its crazy. The pin is literally about no more than 10 yards from the front of the green and bunker is waiting for anything short.:(:(:(:(:(:(

    Anybody experienced anything like this

to be honest I have played wicklow so many times, only live around the corner
The place although being nice is a bit of a joke, it isnt that difficult tee to green so it has crazy ridiculous greens for protection, just my opinion

That said I have played on more severe greens than number 7 in wicklow but they have 18 of them ha ha, cant fault the condition of them that said, some of the nicest greens you will play on, its just the severity of them

Its a tough green and to be honest if ur up the back and the pin is on the front, you'll generally score no better than a four. Locals tend to use the semi rough on either side depending on the pin position to avoid the bunker, during the summer its the only way to avoid that bunker.

Semi rough??? Surely the idea of playing good golf is to hit fairways and green.
The severity of that hole was a bit much for me. A four would have been excellent score but that crazy. The only way to avoid the bunker in the front and the slopes is to get a hole in one.

Found the course generally okay, some lovely holes. Loved the 11th par 3 the only decent hole.

I haven't actually seen or played Wicklow GC.

But it sounds like the greens are being maintained at too quick a pace for the design if you can't hold the ball putting back down the slope.

Slower greens = more undulation is possible.

More undulation in many peoples opinion equals more fun.
