To use your car you need the tax disk in date. Check with the tax office. You may have enough to get the car taxed. Depending on insurance etc.
If you don't get it sorted in time the other option is to use a driving school car.

Do you mean bring the insurance certificate to the tax office? Thought about using a testers car, but would be nervous about it being a different car to mine, hope log book arrives tomorrow!!

I did not explain that well. All the tax office needs is the form filled in and the money. They do want to know who owns the car. But so long as they get paid, they are happy. Bring your all info you have on the car to fill in the form fully. If you get this to the tax office you should get your disk then.
Otherwise, the testers don't have cars. You would need to use a school car. But fill in the form, get to the tax office and you're laughing.

    Hi,

No worries, they can not refuse to take you out for no tax.

However make sure everything else in order.

    Check their site.

    http://www.rsa.ie/rsa/learner-drivers/learning-to-drive/your-car/

Ok. The link does not seem to work. But it says you need car tax. Also, I have seen people refused for having no tax.

    The other post is wrong.

Will try to get it taxed then, thanks for the help. I'm so unprepared, tried to postpone it but rang them 9 days before test instead of 10, so have to just go for it, the stress of it!!

Strange as it may seem, the examiner cannot cancel the test because you've no tax.
It might be an issue if you were stopped by the guards on the test but how likely is that.
Even then the guards seem to allow a bit of leeway, usually a month.
I'd get it taxed if I could, you'll have peace of mind, but if thats not possible just turn up anyway.

    Hi

    +1

get it taxed if at all possible, not a great start to turn up with an untaxed car. However he must take you out, they do not like it because as an examiner told me only a few weeks ago they may get stopped by the Guards

To put your mind at rest, telephone Ballina or drop into the test center and inquire
