Pericoronitis

I've an impacted lower wisdom tooth and while it's not been causing too many problems recently, the gum flared up on Friday and is now quite painful. I had the same issue with the same tooth on the other side of my mouth, which was extracted last year, so I'm pretty sure it's pericoronitis.

The gum is very swollen around the tooth and is a little sore, especially when I eat, but not unbearable. However, I'm not able to get to a dentist until mid week, and was wondering if there's anything I should be doing to help the situation? That site of my mouth is too painful to brush, so I'm rinsing my mouth with salt and water, but I was wondering if there's anything else I should be doing in the meantime?

try corsodyl gel or mouthwash under the gums. Use it at a different time to brushing. Get to dentist ASAP as you may need antibiotics

The swelling has gone down a little today, thankfully, but I've got an appointment later in the week. The dentist says the tooth will have to come out as it's started to cause problems.

I didn't realise there was a corsodyl gel, but given the hassle I had trying to find somewhere that stocked normal corsody mouthwash, I probably won't have a hope of finding the gel!
